Who’s whipping up some dust now? | January 1st, 2006
I know I leave you all clamoring for mercy with my awesome movie-watching skills. Don’t be jealous that I sit around watching hot movies all year, Napoleon.
Here’s my list for 2005, from pretty good to very miserable:
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The Producers (2005)
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Hitch
The Wedding Date
Cheaper by the Dozen 2
Sons of Provo
I would appreciate any recommendations for a TRULY great movie from 2005 because, as you can see, I didn’t chance upon any by myself.

You’re right. I moved it down one position.

Eliza, Abby is ready to go any day now. I saw 4 movies last week, which doubled the movies I saw all year. These are the ones that earned at least 3 stars:
March of the Penguins
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Walk the Line
Betwitched (it got horrible ratings, but I liked it)
The Family Stone
The Gospel
These are ones I did not enjoy:
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Fun with Dick and Jane
The Brothers Grimm

OK, if anyone cares, here’s my movie list from good to really bad. Can’t say I saw anything really enjoyable. What happened to the likes of “Hoosiers” or “Sleepless in Seattle?” The feel-good movies of today just don’t make me feel good.
1. The Interpreter
2. Ice Princess
3. Batman Begins
4. Hitch
5. Chicken Little
6. Star Wars Episode III
7. Harry Potter
8. The Wedding Date
7,526. The Longest Yard – certainly the worst movie I’ve EVER seen!

What about Sons of Provo? We saw it in 04, but it was released in 05.

Also, did Mark like the HP?
January 2nd, 2006 at 11:27 am
yeah, he liked it – more than I did – but agreed the last 30 minutes were too dark. Also, Emily, there is no way I would take our kids to see that. I can’t believe your Bishop took his 4 year old. that is messed up!

No particular order, but enjoyed these:
Walk the Line
Pride and Prejudice
Harry Potter
Chronicles of Narnia
Cinderella Man
The Interpreter
Bewitched
So Emily, do you recommend The Producers?
January 2nd, 2006 at 8:08 pm
Oh, yeah. I saw Pride and Prejudice, with Abby and Jamie. But it was in the middle of the night and I was fighting to stay awake. I’m sure I’ll really like it when I see it again.

The Producers was on the risque side, like a lot. But Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick were excellent and it was a cute movie.
What’s the baby status??
January 3rd, 2006 at 9:38 pm
The baby status is this: Abby went to the Dr. today, but only a tech saw her. They did an ultrasound and saw the baby’s face. She goes back Thursday, at which time the Dr. will probably schedule an induction, within a day or two, she hopes. But today, she actually felt a contraction through her back. Maybe a sign?
