If you’ve never been, it’s worth the 8 hour trip to Cedar City. Just took 50 students and chaperones to see “The Merchant of Venice,” Peg o’ My Heart,” (drama) and “Johnny Guitar” (musical). There were no drugs this year. Just a sick kid and a 3:00 a.m. phone call from another about a “bubble” growing on their bathroom ceiling. It truly was a conical sort of bubble hanging down about 10 inches which looked ready to burst at any moment. The manager was awakened, but he told us to put a garbage can under it. okey-dokey.

I forgot to mention that Elizabeth Smart was in attendance at all of our seminars and performances. I know it was her because I have followed her case all along, and I saw her on Larry King 2 months ago.

Diana and I were talking the other day. Diana wants to get a trip going to Zion next year, and I suggested we could also go to the Shakespeare Festival at that time. What think ye?

I got tired of seeing “0 responses” to my post.

Did anyone talk to Ms. Smart? I think it would be great to go to the Shakespeare Fest.

Which play was your favorite? Remember when Eliza came on summer vacation with us and fell in love with Oliver and had an allergic reaction to Grandma and Grandpa Godfrey’s old pasture field and you let us go see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Festival?

What a great memory, Abby! It was a little scary with Eliza and the alergic reaction. It’s a good thing she hasn’t married a farmer. All the plays were good. Most of the students liked “Peg o’ My Heart” the best. Ms. Reiley and I scratched our heads on that one. We liked it, but far and away the best one for me was “Johhny Guitar”. It was a melodramatic musical, with the occasional du-wop back-up boys. Our students have probably not been exposed to melodrama, and they must have thought it was bad acting. Who knows? It was hysterical, and had wonderful singing!
As for Elizabeth Smart, I did not tell the students that she was among us because I didn’t want them staring at her. When I told them after we got back, most of them didn’t know who she was, anyway. These kids don’t watch or read much news.
Abby, did Jamie and the fellas have luck hunting today?

James took a friend from our ward with a deer tag to hunt on his parent’s land. James doesn’t hunt anymore but did it as a favor. The friend got a little two-point buck and didn’t know how to clean it so James had to do it, and then the friend acted like he wasn’t even going to use the meat! But we convinced him to, and he’s going to give some to us. Not sure how I feel about deer meat. Neil, Four By Four King, would you eat it???

Hey, I grew up on venison. It’s sort of gamey-tasting, but I’m sure it can be doctored to taste ok.
