thoughts of summer | January 14th, 2007
Mark is currently enjoying 30 below temps in Minnesota on a trip he won for work. (ice fishing, skeet (sp?) shooting, hot cocoa, etc.)Meanwhile, back at the homestead, the kiddos can’t believe how cold it is and when is summer going to be here. Jonah keeps asking about August. “Is next week August?” How soon they forget the woes of summer. Which would you rather be, really really cold or really really hot? I choose hot.

I’d rather be hot. Which do you think we should do: Mexico or Utah? I want Utah.

That was from Elliot.

I’d have to choose really cold.I’ve had experiences with both, and it seems like relief is more available if you’re cold. Throughout history, people have worked with fire and heaped on blankets. Relief from heat is dependent on A/C, which can fail.
I vote “Utah”.

I’m not going to vote, because either sounds great, but I HATE the cold. It makes me grumpy.

abby, how then, are you managing the cheery factor with the cold factor?

Not very well. ‘nough said.

I’m with Abby. I HATE being cold! It makes my bones unhappy.

Howdy-ho Godfrey group, don’t be mad I am writing, okay!
. I vote Mexico!
It’s 10 am and I am already bored at work, looking on your site, and decided to include myself. I am going to have to go with hot, I can’t function in the cold. Hard times are coming up for me, it’s 9 degrees in Calgary today

Leslie,
Congratulations on your mission call! If you know the Godfreys, and we know you do, then you know that we love our friends, and are not at all exclusive, and would LOVE comments on this here blog from anyone. (You too, Eliza.) Heaven knows the members of our own famiy don’t comment enough. You are SO welcome anytime.

Yes, Leslie, ditto what Emily said - regarding commenting and the mission. Calgary is so pretty. Have you been there? Owen wore his Calgary Flames (hockey) shirt at the movies the other day, and 3 separate people approached me about it. They were from Calgary and couldn’t say enough about the city and the team. You’ll become a fan, even if you never get to see them play.

I’m glad Leslie commented. I was going to do a post about her mission call, but I can’t make it happen. Anyway, Leslie is going to Calgary in March, just in time to enjoy some spring weather. She is a most welcome guest here for now. It’s especially fun to watch “American Idol” with her, and I’m looking forward to a great viewing of “Napoleon” one of these nights. When Abby and I went to see it in the theater, Leslie was walking out of the theater. We were sad we didn’t get to laugh hysterically with her.
