Whose hose? |

I’ve been wondering. Do women under the age of 40 ever wear nylons/pantyhose? I feel underdressed in a skirt without them, unless the skirt is longish or it is over 100 degrees. But everywhere I look, I see bare legs. I mean everywhere. I’ve never seen a fashion statement about bare legs, pro or con, it’s just there. When did it become the norm? Please inform.

I can only speak for myself: I never wear them. Except once at the temple a few years ago, a lady asked me to put some on.

pantyhose are sort of out, as far as I know. Unless they are the textured type (like fishnet, striped, etc. And really those are more tight-ish, which I think is in). I can imagine east-coast, cold weather business women wearing hose, and maybe west-coast business women too. Being not either of those, I cannot really say for sure. Mom, I think women of your generation still wear them and it’s classy. But for the under 40 crowd, maybe not. Just my humble opinion.

The bonus of panty hose is that you can wear nice shoes and your feet don’t get smelly — but I think the likelihood of runs outweighs that benefit. Besides, that’s why we have socks and those little footsie hose things that cover only the feet. Further, what’s the point of having your toenails painted if you cover them up with nylon?

It’s funny… I typed my maiden name in on a search just to see what might come up…
The only thing that came up about me was from this blog site having to do with Abby’s shower for Milo.
So I’ve been checking it all out.
Now, after browsing for 20 minutes at 2 am, I feel compelled to comment.
Panty hose- It’s funny I’ve had the same discussion with myself. So if you do choose to wear them, it’s only okay with closed toe shoes, right? And what color does an ultra bright legged women wear?
Sorry to barge in on the family business…

Hello friends… allow me to express my thoughts concerning the pantyhose dealio. I think our mothers (meaning your generation Amye ) didn’t teach us the proper “do’s and don’t’s” of the horrid pany-hose. I can ruin 5 hose in a week, what a waste… so we resorted back to our primative days of the non-hose, bare legs. It works for us. Even though I agree, with hose, a woman looks classy and even… I applaud her.
The only time I’ve experienced girls wearing tights was in Provo during the winter…mainly to stay warm.
Jessi: to answer your Q, ladies with porcelin legs, only wear dark nylons or tights… so as not to look too un-natural, like your legs happen to be really tan. It will throw a person off- balance.
Attention all nylon wearing warriors; they have toe-less hose for open toe shoes. They are wonderful and will prove that you are up to date with with goings on of the pantyhose industry!!

Just for the record, I hate pantyhose! Sure, they make your legs look better, but there’s a huge itch factor. My legs want to jump out of their skin sometimes when I’m wearing them. It’s been that way forever. I used to buy a certain brand that wasn’t bad, but the brands I’ve bought lately make my legs feel claustrophobic. Sometimes it’s all I can do to sit in church and not race out of the room, all the while pulling those nasty things off my legs.

All these comments are making me laugh! Mom, if they make you uncomfortable, then absolutely don’t wear them. It’s totally acceptable now. I’m with Sarah- I’d only wear fishnets or lace pattern or something like that. Never nude. But it works for other people.
